"2019 Elections: APC, PDP lost But beyond all this divisive politicking and politics is the huge vote loss by both parties (PDP and APC) even in their areas of influence. In the northwest, the stronghold of Buhari, APC lost over 1.2 million votes, about 17 percent, between 2015 and 2019 (from 7.1 million to 5.9 million), while PDP lost about 800, 000 votes, about 33 percent in the southeast, the second stronghold of the party (from 2.4 million in 2015 to 1.6 million in 2019). This shows the fact that fewer voters see the two parties as alternatives.
